Just used this awesome piece of software to recover a video file that some of it was sat on a bad bit of disk. Windows being nasty just refuses to copy the file, even if just one tiny bit of it is unreadable. This software allows the file to be copied skipping the bad bits so you can recover most your data. in my case just the end of the video was corrupt.
JFileRecovery is a Java application that recovers files from damaged hard drives, CDs, DVDs and Flash media quickly and efficently. JFileRecovery can be launched directly from this web page and will run on Windows, Linux, Mac and other operating systems supporting Java 1.5 or higher.
One for my toolbox. Retrying the failed blocks using smaller block sizes allowed me to recover even more of the video, the amount lost is so small, that I can’t even tell where it was corrupt (I know it was somewhere near the end).
